How to Integrate ConvertPlug with Constant Contact?

ConvertPlug allows you to integrate with external email marketing software that help you store and manage leads obtained through the opt-in forms created using the plugin.

Among all the possible integrations, Connects, the inbuilt, tool allows you to integrate with Constant Contact too.

In order to integrate ConvertPlug with Constant Contact, you will have to follow the steps mentioned below.

1. Install the Connects Constant Contact Addon
Install the Addon.

In order to learn how to use the Addon Installer in ConvertPlug, you can refer to the article here.

2. The Addon is now installed

3. Open Connects
You need to open the Connects page seen under the Resources section of ConvertPlug.

4. Create a New Campaign
You will then find a “Create New Campaign” button that allows you to create a New Campaign. Click on it.

5. Enter a Campaign Name and Select the Third Party Software
A Campaign name should be valid, descriptive and understandable, so that you know what kind of leads are stored in it.
Select Constant Contact from the drop down below.

6. Authenticate your Account
Each email marketing software might have a different attribute that may be needed to authenticate your account.
For the integration with Constant Contact, you need the Constant Contact API Key and the Access Token.

Points to remember:
i. You should have an existing Constant Contact account
ii. Create at least one form that can be integrated with ConvertPlug.

7. Enter the API Key & Access Token
To generate an API Key, you will first need to create or log in to a developer account here. This will be separate from your normal Constant Contact account.

Once you have created an account and verified the email address (or logged in to your existing developer account), you are ready to register a new app and get an API Key here.

i) Fill out the Application Name field. This should be the name of the application or integration you are connecting your Constant Contact account to.

ii) Ignore all of the other fields and scroll to the bottom of the page.
iii) Check the box indicating you agree to the terms of service (we’re sure you read it all) and click Register Application.

You will then be presented with your API Key information.

Now that you have your API Key, you are ready to generate an Access Token. The easiest way to do so is to use our API Tester located here.

You should see your API Key pre-filled in the App/Key field(If you don’t, click the Sign In link at the top right of the page and log in to the Mashery developer account you created earlier. Once you are logged in, the page will refresh and you will see your app and API Key listed there).

i) Click the grey Get Access Token button

ii) On the window that appears, click the blue I already have an account link

ii) Log in to your Constant Contact account (not your developer account) and click Allow.

You will then be provided with your Access Token, which you can now use along with your API Key in your integration.
So that you can easily use them where you need to, we recommend you save this information somewhere, such as a Word or text document, however, you can always log in to your developer account to see your API Key, and follow the steps above to view your Access Token again.

8. Authenticate your Account
Click on Authenticate Constant Contact and select the list you wish to integrate with.

9. Click Create Campaign
Click on the create campaign button and see a new campaign being added to the Connects page.

Using the Campaign in a Module
i. Select and customize a module according to the Campaign needs.
ii. Open it in the editor.
iii. Click on Submissions

iv. Select the appropriate campaign from the Dropdown list

v. Save and Publish the Module
